Dr. Maasumi is a nationally recognized Headache specialist who has dedicated his career to effective treatment of headaches. He has been treating patients with headache for over a decade.
Since 2018, with the advent of a new class of medications, patients have been able to take advantage of them to become more functional.
At NCMG, headache is treated through a multidisciplinary approach. You have access to a wealth of providers who can help with your headaches.
Migraine Headaches
Migraine is one of the most disabling headaches. Up until now, we used medications that were borrowed from other disciplines. Those medications had a lot of side effects. Now, we have newer, better, 21st century medications that are designed specifically to treat migraines. These are the CGRP class of medications.
At NCMG we also believe in treating headaches holistically. You will have access to an MRI machine, a neurologist with extra training in headache medicine, an acupuncturist, and a physical therapist. This multidisciplinary approach allows patients to improve faster and regain functionality.

Tension Headaches
Tension headache is a headache that persists over a long time and has similar features like migraine but is missing a few associated symptoms including nausea, vomiting, light or sound sensitivity. Due to lack of awareness, patient tend to take over the counter medications, which can lead to medication overuse headache. At our headache center we will try to help patients get the right treatment.

Often women who suffer from migraine, tend to have increased frequency and severity of migraine around their menses. Studies have shown that changes in estrogen levels may be a trigger for menstrual migraine.

At our headache center you will have access to our neurologist who is a headache specialist, an Accupuncturist, and a physical therapist. We also have an MRI machine which helps expedite your treatment.
Take advantage of the newest headache medications, the Calcitonin Gene Related Peptides (CGRP). These monoclonal antibodies have shown in numerous clinical trials to be the most effective treatment options for chronic migraine.
At our headache center, we also us a multidiscoplinary approach. As indicated above, we will implement ancilliary services such as physical therapy and Accupuncture in conjuction to your treatment.
